What's the purpose of contemplative prayer?
To be completely involved in God is to be fully contained in God. If we're not fully present in God, and then we're not fully engaged in God. To fully engage in God is to be totally engaged in God. What does it entail to fully take part in God? Find a quiet corner, in close proximity your eyes, and turn inward. Tune in to the peaceful hum of your being, the symphony of daily prayer life unfolding within you. But here is the beauty: you don't need a fancy meditation mat or a Sanskrit mantra to join the dance.
All you need is a willingness to sit, to breathe, to let go. My foray into this silent journey started out as a refuge. Life's clamor had established a fortress around the inner peace of mine, & I craved its return. So, I ventured into the hushed chambers of contemplative prayer, guided by whispers of a yearning and age-old mystics for quietude. It transcends denominational boundaries, making it available to people from various spiritual backgrounds.
Contemplative prayer isn't limited to a certain religious tradition. It's not approximately conforming to a pair of doctrines but about checking out the general heart of spiritualitythe common ground where seekers of truth converge. It's about approaching God using an open, receptive heart, knowing that He is always with us and desires to experience a strong, personal relationship with us. One of the things I have found most helpful about contemplative prayer is it's not simply about the time we invest in prayer, but about the mindset we take to it.
In a word, contemplative prayer is just a spiritual path. The contemplative life is just a method of being Christian. Is contemplative prayer the sole method to grow spiritually? There are numerous forms of religious life, each one of them valid and important. This could involve focusing on a single term or maybe phrase, such as a mantra, plus making it possible for ourselves to become completely present with it, handing over the car of any disruptions or thoughts that come into our brains.
One other way to practice contemplative prayer is through meditation. We will then develop it steadily, with the help of a spiritual director, and it will become a bit longer, lasting even hours. Do you have a minimum time I have to spend on contemplative prayer in order to see a few results? As a general rule, the perfect time spent in prayer increases as we progress within the trip towards contemplation. There are several sorts of contemplative prayer: several styles need shorter periods of prayer while others are much more durable.
Contemplative prayer will normally be short at the beginning of the journey. It was like stepping out of a noisy marketplace right into a moonlit meadow, the air alive with unspoken secrets.
